Olu Deniz - Fethiye Travel Guide

A stunning turquoise lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches, mountains and pine forests.

A perfect beach holiday for just about everyone.

•The heart of Olu Deniz is the stunning turquoise blue lagoon which laps white sand beaches. The area is a natural park (and so there is a small admission charge). The beach stretches for several miles, but most people love the lagoon itself with its spectacular backdrop of mountains and pine forest. Shallow warm waters make it ideal for children and snorkelling. Watersports include diving. With friendly restaurants serving excellent local food at good prices, it is hardly surprising that Olu Deniz is one of Turkey's and our most popular resorts. For the best sandy beaches, a dolmus to "Bob's beach" is your best bet. Hisaronu is a short dolmus away with lots of nightlife.

•Olu Deniz is perfect for singles, couples, divers, silver surfers, and families.

•What are the beaches like in Olu Deniz? Stunning. Amongst the most photographed place in the world. Our customer's favourite are Sugar beach and Suara beach. You should also visit the more secluded and quieter Kidrak Paradise Beach. And a short boat trip takes you to the lovely Butterfly Valley Beach.

•Diving in Olu Deniz: The crystal clear turquoise waters in Olu - Deniz and Fethiye area are perfect of new or experienced divers. There is a good choice of dive sites including calm shallow reefs, walls, drop offs and tunnels. There are also day trips to Kabak Reef, Guvercinlik Bay, the fascinating Paradise Garden and Afkule. And it is the perfect place to study for PADI certification. The marine life includes colourful corals, large grouper, moray eels, octopus, tuna, barracuda's and lobster.

•Eating Out in Olu Deniz? There is a huge range of top local and international cuisine. Our customers' favourites include 'The Secret Garden' for that special meal with a touch of class, Captain Hook's for fantastic fish; and Hippishake - great value, loads of fun with charming hosts but a questionable music selection, apparently.

•Here's what one of our customers said about the food in Olu Deniz: "Fethiye fish/meat market area-simply buy your fresh fish or meat and take it to any of the surrounding restaurants and they will happily cook it and provide excellent service, together with all other items required, at extremely low prices."

•Top Olu Deniz Tip: Check out a traditional Turkish barbers for a close shave and a manicure. Also there are Roman baths where you can relax in the famous mud, sulphur and thermal pools. There is also a Spa where you can have lots of wonderful treatments including a chocolate massage.

Take a water taxi to nearby Fethiye, a lovely traditional town with a picturesque harbour. There are also fantastic restaurants with incredible views, plus bars and a great market.

•Excursions from Olu Deniz: Visit Dalyan, a pretty village, famous for its rock tombs, mud baths and a natural spa. Many of the boat trips, often on a traditional gullet, will take you to beautiful bays for swimming, snorkelling and picnics. You must visit the Blue Caves, and although it's a bit of a climb, the view from the waterfall is incredible.

•At Calis Beach, near Fethiye there are water-sports plus the old port, 'paspatur', sells everything from aromatic herbs to designer togs. The famous rock tomb of King Amyntas and The resorts of Hisaronu and Ovacik are nearby.

•Nightlife in Olu Deniz? In a word laid back. There are some lively bars along the promenade along Belcegiz Beach and the bright lights of Hisaronu with its many clubs is just a short Dolmus away. But the best nightlife in Olu Deniz is simply relaxing over a delicious meal at a beachside taverna and enjoying the ambience and the views. For a wonderful night out, our customers recommend the Help Bar, Buzz and the Hope. Here is what one reviewer said: "Help is a fab bar & restaurant overlooking Olu Deniz beach. They have great music, fantastic food and great staff. Sit and watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand and soak up the views."

•Top Olu Deniz Tip:
