Golf del Sur - Tenerife Travel Guide

Superb scenery, excellent hotels and a stunning golf course.

A top spot in the sun to perfect your swing.

•Golf del Sur: Unsurprisingly, Golf is the main reason that holidaymakers visit 'Golf on Sea'. But it is also a good place for non-golfers to have a totally indulgent break, relaxing poolside or being pampered in the beauty salon. Plus there is the fishing village of Los Abrigos a short walk away where you can eat the catch of the day, plus a stunning marina. The resort avoids the worst excesses of Brits abroad behaviour and appeals to those looking for a quietish time, in a lovely hotel with great sports facilities and scenery to explore nearby.

•The Golf courses in Golf del Sur:Golf del Sur is a green oasis studded with palms, cactus, exotic flowers and whose 27 hole championship golf course rests on magnificent cliffs with incredible views out to sea and to Mount Teide. 2 all day player and buggy passes costs from £130.00 and can be purchased locally.

•The beaches in Golf del Sur: There are no beaches in Golf del Sur but most of the hotels have simply stunning pools. There is also a tidal sea water pool which is very nice for a dip. Sandy beaches are a few minutes drive away.

•Top Sunbathing Tip: Most of the hotels have fabulous pools, and the good news is that so many people are off playing golf, that you shouldn't have any trouble getting a sunlounger.

•What else can I do in Golf del Sur? walk along the cliff path and enjoy the unspoilt scenery as you head towards Los Abrigos.

•Visit the promenade and harbour with shops, bars and restaurants at San Blas.

•Hire a car and explore the surrounding countryside or visit some of southern Tenerife's popular resorts such as Playa de las Americas.

•When is the best time to visit? May - October but as with the rest of Spain, the temperatures are good all year around and many golfers prefer the cooler months.

•Eating out in Golf del Sur? The traditional fish restaurants in the area, particularly in the lovely harbour village of Los Abrigos are excellent. The nearby town of San Blas has some charming tapas restaurants in the main square.

•The best restaurant in Golf del Sur? At the moment it is a tie between the fabulous Japanese cuisine at the Tempanyaki restaurant or the homespun cooking of Harbour Lights.

•Nightlife in Golf del Sur: This is mainly around the marina in wine bars, restaurants and pubs. For livelier nightlife, Los Cristianos and Las Americas is only a fifteen minute drive away.
