Nerja - Costa del Sol Travel Guide
Fabulous food, eleven beaches and some good nightlife.

•Nerja is famous for its beautiful caves and its elegant Balcon de Europe promenade.

•What are the beaches like in Nerja? There are eleven beaches, and they are all very clean, but you will need to take the bus or hire a car to reach some of them. They include:
•The Torrecilla - blue flag, lifeguard, sun beds, parasols, water sports. It is seperated into two areas; one for jetskis and one for bathers.
•El Salona picturesque beach close to the Balcon de Europa with lifeguard, sunbeds etc.
•Carabeillo one of the prettiest in the area, magnificent cliffs, lifeguard, showers etc home to poets Garcia Lorca and Jorge Guilllen.
•Burriana very popular with our holidaymakers, with lifeguards, sunbeds, parasols, volleyball, showers and a fishing pier.
•Maro, small and at the bottom of the cliffs, very popular at the weekends with the locals.
•What else can I do in Nerja? Enjoy the watersports, visit the large weekly market, the caves, and the lovely old town in Frigliana.
•Excursions: visit Malaga and check out the Picasso museum; visit any of the other resorts on the Costa del Sol, such as Marbella.
•When is the best time to visit? May - October
•What's the best restaurant in Nerja? There are some excellent restaurants serving traditional and international cuisine. According to our holidaymakers, both Scarlettas and the Jamaica are highly rated.
•What's the nightlife like in Nerja? There are some great dance clubs in Nerja playing everything from house to salsa on different nights; many with terraces and lounges. Coconuts disco is open from 10pm till dawn and La Guarida opens till 3.30am. You could also check out Tamareo, Seven, Thebas. There is also entertainment in some of the hotels plus some Irish bars with live music There's even a cave bar at El Capistrano.

Did you know? The caves of Nerja are home to the world's longest stalactite - 63m long. It also has prehistoric cave paintings but these, sadly, are not open to the public.
