Laganas - Zante Travel Guide

A perfect golden sand beach, home to green loggerhead turtles.

Stunning scenery, amazing marine life. And plenty of night time entertainment.

•What is Laganas like? The perfect golden sand beach is the island's most popular beach; and so it is naturally the island's busiest resort. However it is a very relaxing beach with limited watersports due to nesting green loggerhead turtles. But don't worry there are other beaches nearby with full-on watersports if you need an occasional adrenaline rush. Laganas has great choice of nightlife, restaurants and bars. Plus a wide range of hotels for every budget and taste. There are plenty of wonderful sights to visit within the area including the amazing Blue Caves and Smugglers Cove. And not one of our holidaymakers who has reviewed this resort has a bad word to say about it.

•What is the beaches like at Laganas? It is a perfect 5 km stretch of soft golden sands nestling clear warm waters. It is part of the National Marine Park, which works to protect the endangered Caretta- Caretta sea turtles. Some boat trips are available to see the turtles, but they are limited to avoid disturbing the turtles when they are nesting.

•Tsilivi blue flag beach is about five minutes away with golden sands and shallow waters. It is ideal for kids of all ages and has watersports including windsurfing, water skiing, banana, pedaloes, jetskiing and paragliding.

•There is a good selection of cafes, bars and clubs along the beachside in Laganas. The one mile long strip includes chill out bars for beachside cocktails, traditional tavernas for al fresco dining, British pubs, fast food joints and some great clubs. Off the main strip there are smaller streets which are home to more family friendly bars, some with karaoke, live entertainment and Greek nights.

•Excursions: Take a boat trip or a bus journey to see the turtles at Kalamaki beach.

•The Blue Caves with their deep shimmering blue waters and the unforgettable Navagio are absolute must-dos. Navagio is also known as Smugglers or Shipwreck beach. It is an isolated sandy cove home to the wreck of the smuggler ship Panagiotis which is only accessible by boat.
