•El Arenal is a lively fun in the sun destination popular with both Brits and young Europeans. It' lovely beach and palm fringed promenade of bars, cafes, shops and clubs stretches for an incredible 2.5 miles of shimmering blue waters. It joins up with the neighbouring and quieter resort of C'an Pastilla. You can easily walk or cycle between the two resorts or use the mini train.

•The beaches in El Arenal and C'an Pastilla: The light sunkissed sands of the magnificent bay at Playa de Palma shelve gently into the sea.The beach has 16 Balnearios which are small beach huts with toilets, showers, and a kiosk selling cold drinks and snacks. There are plenty of watersports and sun loungers; and there are lifeguards on duty, plus the sand is cleaned every day.

•“The beach goes on for miles and is lovely and clean. There are umbrellas and sun loungers for hire and the sea is quite shallow for a long way.Lots of bars, restaurants and cafes line the front and there's very little traffic on the road, so safe for wandering across. Lots of shops and supermarkets too-basically everything you need.” wrote one of our holidaymakers.

•Another recommends: “The beach in Arenal is huge & sandy but we prefer smaller coves so were happy to be recommended to both Illetes on the other side of Palma & Cala Mondrago near Santanyi.”

•Best restaurant in El Arenal: According to our holidaymakers the current best restaurant in Arenal for a special meal is “The Las Sirenas restaurant - above the sailing club is worth a visit, for excellent fresh fish dishes.”. And the best restaurant in Arenal for good value must be: “There is a pizzeria on the beach front called Del Sol, fantastic pizza's and the girl on the table next to us had the most amazing bucket of mussels that I have ever seen. I don't know how she managed to eat her King Prawn main dish as well!!!! Fantastic views over the sea at sunset (1st floor restaurant, not on ground level).

•Best Pub in El Arenal: There are only a few British pubs here as the resort has more of a European feel. Our holidaymakers recommend the following: “We found a great English bar called The Hole in the Wall. The food was great and the staff where very friendly so we went there a lot.” The other top spot is The Sportsman Bar. Let us know which was your favourite pub when you get back. There are also some German beer gardens which are great fun.

•Nightclubs in El Arenal: The Joy Palace in Arenal is a popular spot and plays a mixture of dance, latino, house. During the summer top DJs like DJ Sammy, and DJ Quicksilver play there. And our holidaymakers recommend Charlies club.

•Attractions in El Arenal: Aqualand and the Golf Fantasia mini golf course are good fun.

•Popular excursions: The beautiful city of Palma is a 15 minute bus ride away. Visit its Gothic cathedral and its narrow winding streets full of traditional tapas bars, jewellery shops and designer boutiques.

•A day out recommended by one of our holiday makers “Good day out - Caves of Drach combined with glass blowing, pearl factory and best of all liqueur tasting. Booked with the excursion office by the marina.”

•Another recommends “Do take the Soller train ride too... fantastic. Boat trip around the Palma Bay is well worth it and the open top bus tour in Palma.”

•You can also explore the island and in a day could easily reach the mountains of Formentor.
